Chris and Sarah Sligh
Chris and Sarah Sligh
It seems to us here at chris-sligh.info that more American Idol contestants have husbands and wives this season than in all of the previous years put together.  We've gotten a lot of questions about Chris Sligh's beautiful wife, Sarah, so we went to Don Chapman, the administrator of chrissligh.com, for some exclusive inside information!

Don goes to the same church as Chris and Sarah, and has worked on several of songs with Chris, including two songs on the new Half Past Forever CD ("Beautiful" reprise and "Cry Tonight").  Don has also recently spent some time in Hollywood with Chris and Sarah!  What a lucky duck!

OK, on to what everybody wants to know...

Chris and Sarah were married May 9, 2003.  Sarah is 26 years old and has 3 brothers.  She loves decorating and is an administrative assistant at Seacoast Church in Greenville, SC.  Chris leads the music at Seacoast Church.

Chris and Sarah have 2 babies!  Well, not HUMAN babies.  They have Tucker, a Jack Russell terrier, and L.G. (which stands for Little Guy), a miniature dachshund.

Don assures us that Sarah is just as sweet as she looks on TV.  When Don was running around Hollywood with Sarah, he pretended to be her bodyguard and referred to her as "Mrs. Sligh", which annoyed Sarah, but Don knew that he could keep right on teasing her, so he did, of course!

We are really lucky because Don sent us some pictures from Hollywood!

The first one is of Chris and Sarah in a restaurant called "Hof's Hut" in Garden Grove, CA, right across the street from the Crystal Cathedral.  Also that day the group attended Saddleback Church, where Chris met famous pastor Rick Warren, author of "The Purpose Driven Life."

The third picture was taken at the Hollywood Cheesecake Factory where Sarah, Chris and Don went with Blake and two of his "Blaker Girls"  Of course the guys got a ton of autograph requests along with their delicious food.

A cool tidbit of information....the necklace that Chris is wearing in the picture was a gift from the famous Paula Abdul!  Paula has a jewelry line, and she gave each contestant a necklace with his or her initials on it.  Paula is no slouch in the sweet department, herself!

BJU 1975 grad, mother of three, wife of a Bible major, Christian school teacher says "Go for it Chris, keep your feet firmly planted on the ground, your eyes on the Savior and remember that image is not reality. A lot of young Christians need you to make it with your faith stronger than ever. May God give you the strength and grace to not disappoint."

Wow, Chris. Talk about a change. From drama in Performance Hall, music in society quartets and campus choirs, to hair and American Idol. But I guess that was a long time ago. May the Lord drive you to better things. II TIm. 2:4

Don't comment back to the judges when they are negative. Keep the christian attitude and you will make it far. Good Luck--we need a South Carolinian to win this thing.

Yep -- former PCC alum as well. Share your faith. Don't back down from what you KNOW is true. Give God the glory and rock on.

Chris, we have a slight connection through Sarah's brothers that are married to the two Higgins girls. Allison's and Candace's parents are good friends of ours from Savannah, GA. We've known the Higgins family for 25 years. I was already voting for you and praying for you and your wife before I ever knew the Higgins girls were your sis-in-law, and finding that out was a trip. We watched Allison and Ben cheering you on in the audience on Tues. Chris, may the Everlasting Arms uphold you, and may you stay grounded on the Rock in that crazy place called L.A.

smilies/cry.gifDear Chris,
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw you leave last night. I actually welled up. I think you are awesome and I wish you the best of luck. I'm definitely a fan of your music (voice). Keep it up! I'll be waiting for an album...

Do you remember Zac Collins, one of your room mates at BJU? We're his mom and dad. We were rooting for you and voted over 500 times Tuesday night.
God knows best and you stood for Him. You will always be first in our hearts.

Chris, keep your eyes on God - He has bigger and better plans for you than "Idol" - haven't watched it since you were voted off. And I too voted for you like a teenager. You caught our eye because our son is your look alike. You could be twins. Then, once we noticed, your talent carried us. God has given you a special gift. Use it for His glory.
