When I was 11 months old, I won a local newspaper's "Beautiful Baby Contest" (1954). My parents submitted a photo of me sitting at a toy baby grand piano with a candelabra on top. The caption underneath read "Are you ready, George?" (a reference to Liberace's brother, who also was his band leader and business partner). The article made reference to me as "the diaper sets' answer to Liberace". I won 10 dollars for that photo.(there's that number 10 again) That was probably the first and last time I ever won anything!

Rosalee,

My recollection of the Liberace quote is:
"remember that bank I used to cry all the way to, I bought it".

A couple of years ago there was an account in the Star Ledger by one of the family members who own or owned Pal's Cabin in West Orange, New Jersery.
In the 40's then still Walter Liberace had an engagement there when wasn't yet that sucessful. His repertoire was still mostly classical music.
the man recounting, then 8 years old, said that part of the deal was Liberace gave him piano lessons.

I remember in an interview (I think on the Mike Douglas Show) Liberace said is first successfull recording was "Cement Mixer, Putty, Putty", the b-side of one his records.

Poor brother George was used as an excuse for not getting married. He on several occassions commented how his brother "George was happily married for the seventh time".

Independent of the odd BJU policy on acceptable muscic, Chris has to have some ideal who Liberace was.
But is probably not altogether for music and showman reasons.
