As none of the online versions of the article so far discovered use the revised edition.
The cynic in me suspects that the editor of your newspaper took liberties with an eye on not antagonizing the goodwill or sensibilities of it's readers and an avoidance of possible libel suit.
Still it is an extraordinarily trivial waste of space, resources, and time in every possible way imaginable. I hope the rest of this newspaper has more substantial articles of value and interest to your life and worthy of your time.

There are 2 online versions that have been been published with the edited version. I get Newsday and I see that the online version of Newsday has the change, as well as the version at AMNY.com. On both versions the _title_ has been changed as well. Newsday's _title_ has been changed to "The Good (not bad) in Ugly". The other _title_ was changed to "Being ugly has become a thing of beauty in TV, movies". Interesting, huh? Granted, it's still not a flattering article, but at least they took that first "repulsive" adjective out. They also deleted the first three inflammatory paragraphs that set the stage for the article as well as some material in the middle. Compare the two articles.
