By all appearances, Chris seems to be holding onto who he is. His wit, his candor and his ability to own his choices make him a stand-out contestant. Couple that with his vocal ability and his daring to think outside the box ~ he's a terrific contender! Although many might think he is too risky, I can think of many creative artists who held true to their creative process and went on to become household names and publicly referenced in teaching circles. Some of these artists were often scorned and never esteemed while yet living. History has a way of opening up our minds a bit. I think Chris has the ability to be one of the "Great Ones" and won't be surprised at his success. It's all in the timing...and the process to get there...and it is just that...a process. GO CHRIS GO!

Man, the producers really don't want him to win, do they? Week after week, they find some nit-picky and difficult-to-avoid "problem"; I did not notice any kind of off-tempo tendency. Chris was vocally amazing and solid. I'm so disappointed that American Idol is becoming so...what's the word...EVIL? Haha. Chris deserves to win. He has the most talent of all the guys (I've always found it difficult to compare female and male singers).

Last season during classic love songs week, the AI producers changed Taylor's song less than 48 hours before airtime, claiming that "Try a Little Tenderness" didn't qualify. Taylor performed the acceptable substitute "Just Once" quite adeptly considering the shortage of rehearsal time. They put a huge mothership of a light over him, not of the flattering variety, and the judges savaged his performance. Sound familiar?

Today's rumor is that Chris got stuck with leftovers on a very short list of songs submitted by Gwen Stefani. I think he performed quite adeptly, all things considered, despite the jarring reverberation -- I'm a fan of Phil Spector's wall of sound, but what the deuce?

The house drummer did his best, but I think "Every Little Thing She Does" should be shelved unless Stewart Copeland, possibly the best rock drummer ever, is available. I have re-listened to the mp3 a few times and the beat, which drives a song, is sometimes inaudible.

Chris's problem was pitch, not tempo, and obvious discomfort while performing. If you clap once per beat as you listen next time, you will hear that he was true to the rhythm. I think what the judges perceive as a chronic problem with tempo is actually a stylistic choice by an experienced vocalist. Chris sometimes starts a melodic line half a note early, but he doesn't finish early, which he would do if he were rhythmically challenged. Last season the under-experienced Kellie Pickler strayed far from the musical accompaniment and it was so sad. Chris doesn't do that.

Chris, there are lots of us with two good ears and the ability to think independently who consider you a wonderful singer with loads of potential. Keep the faith!

Chris, You are a STAR...believe it! I am so sad that American Idol voters let you go. It is my opinion they made a huge mistake! I enjoyed watching you every week. Your voice is amazing, and your personality is just the icing on the cake. You made me smile, and I just really feel your music will be flying off the shelves very soon. Hold on to your dreams, and your beautiful wife, and make your music....because you are an OUTSTANDING performer!
